Creative Fifers paint rocks to decorate young man’s garden

A creative Fife community has rallied to decorate the garden of a young man with additional needs.

Aiden Hutchison’s mum Shona appealed to members of the Lundin Links & Largo Community Facebook page to help bring some colour to his front garden.

The response was amazing. Around 200 painted rocks have been left for 21-year-old Aiden, who lives in Lower Largo.

Dinosaurs, Spongebob Squarepants, Oor Wullie and dragons are among the cast of characters that have been painted onto the rocks by the creative folk in the Largo area.

But it is not just people who live nearby who have helped – rocks have been left by people from all around Fife and even as far as Edinburgh.

Some of the artists have left little notes, while others have chosen to remain anonymous.

“The people have been so kind and creative,” said Shona.

“A lot of the stones have been left anonymously, but it’s really appreciated.

“We didn’t expect it to be as big as this.

“Aiden gets excited to see the new stones. He appreciates that people have come along to place them. He likes to see all the characters.

“People have really embraced it and some of them are phenomenally clever.

“It’s heart-warming. We didn’t expect it to become this big.”

The garden has become a bit of a local attraction, with visitors stopping outside the house to see the painted rocks.

People can also see some of the painted rocks on the Lundin Links & Largo Community Facebook page.
