While recycling centres across Fife have reopen – including in St Andrews, Ladybank and Pittenweem – the Cupar centre remains shut.

Following a meeting with her SNP colleagues, local councillor Karen Marjoram provided an update on the situation.

She said: “Cllr Vetraino has told me that Cupar presents the greatest challenge in respect of social distancing and traffic management, which is why it has not yet re-opened.

“The booking system, which is in place at other sites, has been evaluated and it is likely that we should be able to get Cupar opened soon.

“There is still a need to ensure social distancing, however, and that means that the layout of every recycling centre has had to be changed by way of forming bays. Each bay has bins for each waste stream. The small footprint of the centre at Cupar permits the formation of only one bay.”

“I am hoping that my repeated requests will result in some movement at Cupar soon.”
