Designs for new Fife visitor centre and community hub revealed

Designs showing how a renovated Silverburn Park flax mill could look have been revealed.

Mental health charity, Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT) which operates the park, wants to transform the derelict b-listed building into a visitor centre, community hub, cafe, shop, hostel, arts and crafts studio and more.

It is hoped the flax mill could be ready to open in 2025, in time for the restored Leven rail line, but FEAT needs to raise around £2.5 million to make that happen.

After the original lockdown started, a team of 30 plus consultants began to design and fundraise for the multi-million-pound project.

This work did not go unnoticed by the nearby communities in Levenmouth and Lundin Links who have donated more than £20,800 towards this exciting community project – ten per cent of what is needed to unlock more than £7.5 million in grants from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Fife Council and other large funding bodies.

“We are on track to deliver great things here at Silverburn but we need help to make it happen,” said Duncan Mitchell, FEAT CEO. “This place can be even more amazing we just need to keep the fundraising up.”
