‘Diverse’ line-up announced up for St Andrews festival

The largest student-run arts festival in the UK returns to St Andrews next month, with a packed programme of events.

The On The Rocks Festival will be held between April 3-12, with a range of art, film, dance, photography, theatre, fashion, music and comedy events due to take place. The events will be held throughout the town, some of which will be free to attend.

“For this year’s festival we’ve been really excited to continue the expansion of our remit,” said festival director Holly McLellan Scrivener. “This year’s programme is one of our most diverse to date; from children’s activities to experimental new theatre and arts workshops, there really is something for everyone.”

Over the course of the ten-day festival there will be a range of shows, from dance shows and poetry slams to jazz nights and photography exhibitions.

“One of our main priorities with this year’s festival has been to readdress our relationship with sustainability; the arts can be an incredibly wasteful industry, so we’ve encouraged our events to think responsibly about the resources they’re using and have drastically cut down the amount of printed material we produce in favour of an emphasis on digital marketing,” said Ms McLellan Scrivener.
