She said it is hoped a proper night out to mark her retirement can be held when restrictions, due to the pandemic, are lifted.

She said: “I was very happy at Dysart and enjoyed getting involved with all the school events such as Christmas concerts and fundraisers. I have seen generations of many families through the school.

"My last day was on Tuesday when I received some beautiful gifts from staff and parents. I was sad to leave but we are having a night out as soon as we can.”

On her plans for her retirement she said: “My husband and I are going to be looking after my grandson Efren two days a week which will be lovely and we are also going to go on holidays at some point.”

She added: “I will really miss school but we have already been invited back for sports day as long as they don’t expect me to take part in the races!”
