Scarecrows do not need to be ready for this date, but all participants must have registered an entry by then.

The 2020 Kinghorn in Bloom Village Show has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however the popular Scarecrow Trail is still going ahead.

Families, individuals or businesses are invited to make a scarecrow and display it as part of a trail around the town.

Once the scarecrows are on display residents and visitors can buy a map which shows where all the scarecrows are for £1.

The proceeds will go to Kinghorn in Bloom.

Liz Mitchell, competition organiser, explained: “Scarecrows don’t have to be ready until Saturday, August 22, but we need people to enter by this Friday, August 7 so that we can make the Scarecrow Trail map.”

“The map means that people can follow the trail around the town and vote for their favourite scarecrow.”

The Scarecrow Trail is a unique feature of the Kinghorn event as scarecrow competitions in other towns and villages are usually judged by a panel.

Liz added: “We’ve had great Scarecrow Trails in previous years which, as well as being enjoyed by locals, bring many visitors to the town.

“We’re hoping for an even bigger and better event this year”.

There are three categories of scarecrow - family, adult or business/organisation.

Scarecrows can be traditional, or on any theme the maker likes.

Entry forms are available from the noticeboard in Kinghorn High Street, Loraine Walker Couture, 53 High Street or from Kinghorn in Bloom by emailing [email protected].

The closing date for entries is Friday, August 7.
