Fife College welcomes decision to keep campuses open

Fife College has welcomed news that campuses are to be kept open under the new Coronavirus restrictions announced this week.

The Scottish Government is introducing a series of measures tonight (Friday) that will be in place until the October 25.

They are all aimed at curbing the increasing spread of the virus.

But in a letter to colleges and universities, Richard Lochhead, Minister for Further Education and Higher Educatio, n confirmed that college campuses will be allowed to remain open with blended learning in place.

Although the majority of students have been studying from home, many have been able to attend classes at one of the college’s five campuses across Fife.

Sue Reekie, chief operating officer, said that allowing the students continued access to classrooms meant that lecturers would be able to deliver the best possible learning experience.

She said: “We’re pleased that we’ll be able to keep our campuses open during this period, and maintain the blended learning model we have in place.”
