Fife community bids to take over beauty spot

An East Neuk community has launched a fundraiser to take over a local wildlife reserve.

Crail Community Partnership has been given the green light by Fife Council to take control of three local beauty spots through community asset transfers – Bow Butts park, the Pinkerton Triangle and South Kilminning.

Following a successful crowdfunder for the park, the group has now launched a new fundraiser to help it purchase South Kilminning.

The funding will be used for legal fees and the first phase of work.

A spokesperson said: “This is a very significant section of land with more potential for strong impact of wildlife, especially migratory birds. And as an additional outdoors attraction for Crail residents and visitors alike.”

They continued: “Recent rare birds sitings have drawn large numbers of bird enthusiasts.

“The site includes a wildlife reserve currently leased to The Scottish Wildlife Trust.”

Rewards are being offered to donors, from plaques thanking those who have given money, to high-quality prints.

The crowdfunder for Bow Butts ended last week and passed its target.
