Fife Council to reopen public toilets

Fife Council is aiming to reopen the majority of its public toilets over the next two weeks.

The announcement came following increasing complaints from around the Kingdom about the closure of public toilets.

With pubs and restaurants also still to reopen, visitors have had nowhere to relieve themselves.

Head of Assets, Transportation and Environment at Fife Council, Ken Gourlay, said: “Toilets across Fife are managed by the council and Fife Coast and Countryside Trust and we are working together to get them reopened as quickly and safely as possible.

“Our challenge is to make sure every system is flushed through and the water quality is safe before we can reopen them to the public. There is demand across the UK for these services at present and the contractor that carries out this work for us is maintaining a constant presence in Fife working on our priorities.

“Getting toilets open in our main footfall areas is a priority and we look forward to reopening the majority of toilets over the next two weeks for everyone’s convenience.”
