Members of the Joyce Anderson School of Dancing have taken to the streets each Thursday at 8pm, performing various dances, bringing smiles to the faces of people around north east Fife, from Cupar and Collessie, to St Monans and Kingskettle.

“Because we’re all having to adapt, I started sending them new steps to practice at home,” said Joyce.

“There’s a dance called the Covid-19. I sent it to them. Some of them did it, others then started doing their own dances. It snowballed from there. People have sent in their own clips.”

Joyce, who has been dancing as well, said that residents in the villages have taken part as well.

Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus, Joyce has been forced to postpone a special event to mark the 50th anniversary of the school, which was due to take place this summer. It is hoped the event can be rearranged when the Covid-19 crisis ends.

However, she has still been able to do classes, sending clips to her 100+ students.

“I’m not a tech queen,” she said.

“You can still doing it in the house. Everyone is still doing something at home.

“It’s new for everyone, but nothing really beats personal interaction.

“But it’s good for when you are feeling down a bit.”
