Fife dancers take part in online toilet roll challenge

Dancers in north east Fife have been spinning, flipping and showing off their best moves as part of the toilet roll challenge.

Dozens of members of Yvonne Gray Dance Studios and their family members submitted videos of themselves dancing at home with a toilet roll.

It is part of the social media #toiletrollchallenge, which sees people ‘passing’ a loo roll between each other in creative ways. It has helped keep people entertained while stuck in the house.

With the studios in Cupar closed, owner Yvonne has been forced to come up with creative ways to keep her dancers moving and bring in much-needed income.

“We’re making the best of it and the video was such good fun,” she said.

“One of the football groups did one. Teachers at Castlehill PS did one as well.”

And it was not just Yvonne’s dancers who took part. Family members also showed off their moves.

With the studio closed, Yvonne, who has around 300 students of all ages, has been trying to keep some of her classes going, making use of her spare room to organise video sessions.

She has come up with an online schedule which allows the dancers to still take part in classes from their own homes.

Yvonne also sets up various silly challenges for them to take part in.

“We know how to think outside the box,” she said. “It is a way to keep morale up, to keep the kids entertained and to keep business afloat.”
