Fife food project seeking new diners as service extends across towns

The charity is seeking diners in the following postcode areas, KY8 Leven, KY12 Dunfermline, KY14 Strathmiglo and Auchtermuchty, and KY16 St Andrews.

The award winning project is a local neighbourhood food-sharing project that connects people who love to cook with an older neighbour in a effort to tackle social-isolation.

The initiative is a part of the Scottish charity Food Train that aims to support older people to eat well, age well and live well.

Anyone over the age of 55 can take part and become a diner.

They will be paired with a local cook and start receiving delicious homemade meals from a friendly neighbour.

Normally, the cook makes an extra portion for the diner which they share together, but due to the ongoing pandemic, they have been dropping meals off and connecting over the phone.

Carol Simmons, development officer said: "As the current pandemic continues, Meal Makers are very much at the forefront of delivering home cooked meals to our older people.

“We are looking for people who can spare a few hours a week to cook an extra portion and also looking for people who would like to receive the home cooked meal.

“We cover the whole of Fife, but we need your help in spreading the word so as many people as possible can benefit from this service.”
