Islay Gray recently graduated in theatrical prop making, and, despite no theatres being open due to the virus restrictions, she has been determined to make a positive start to her career.

Having previously qualifying as a furniture maker, she is now working beside Ladybank furniture maker Leo Norris.

She has crafted three oak benches for the charity Fife Sands, which supports bereaved families who have lost babies.

“I have loved working on the Fife Sands charity benches,” said Islay. “Being a part of such a special project gave me huge drive and I couldn’t be happier with the reaction people have had to the finished work.”

Leo said he has been delighted with Islay’s hard work and skills, and is confident that she will go from strength to strength as a designer and maker of furniture for both indoors and gardens.
