His achievements will directly benefit many Fifers as the Fife Health Board Endowment Fund is a member of NHS Charities Together and will receive around £165k for the Kingdom as part of the stage two programme.

The trustees of the Endowment Fund will be making money available for grants of up to £10k for local organisations that worked in partnership during the pandemic and that help to avoid hospital stays and support people to leave hospital.

The trustees are also particularly keen to see projects come forward which help to tackle social isolation, mental health challenges and inequalities.

Tricia Marwick, chairman of the fund, said: “NHS Charities Together has shown fantastic support for the Fife Health Board Endowment Fund throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and have enabled us to fund a number of initiatives for the benefit of staff and patients.

“Previous funding from NHS Charities Together has allowed us to provide non-core items for patients such as toiletries, phone chargers and magazines to make their stay in hospital a little easier.

"Similarly, we were able to provide well being packs for healthcare staff who have gone above and beyond to provide a high standard of patient care in particularly challenging circumstances.

“The latest funding is just under £165k. The Endowment Fund is very keen to support community organisations which are providing support for the well being of communities and we are inviting applications from these organisations.

“The Trustees are particularly keen to hear from community organisations which have assisted through the pandemic to date or who might wish assistance to continue or to expand their services in the future i.e. friendship and support hubs to help social isolation, inequalities and mental health well being.

“These actions have been made possible because of the efforts of fundraisers across the UK and we want to thank those who have contributed, however large or small.”
