The song was recorded at home during lockdown alongside an accompanying video featuring members of the band and the local community.

The single has been released on Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer, and all profits will go to the band to ensure that young people in the district continue to have the opportunity to get involved with music from an early age.

The song features singer/songwriter Cameron Barnes (Red Hot Chilli Pipers), who started his musical journey with the band, and who recently had a UK iTunes no 4 hit song with actor Blythe Duff and their version of Fairytale of New York.

Cameron said: “Without the band I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing today. Bagpipes have let me see the world! It’s an amazing confidence booster that encourages kids to learn and be part of the incredible global pipe community and that is my goal for doing this project.”

Early fans of the track include US actor Kathryn Meisle, who played Mrs Hallett in the original film and has recorded a video in praise of the band’s version. The young people of the band have also set up their own twitter account @methilpipeband in order to attract the attention of Hugh Jackman himself.

In 2019, Methil & District Pipe Band came second in the Scottish, European and World Championships and have picked up many other prizes when competing in competitions throughout Scotland.
