Shane Watson, who goes by ‘Jester’, has released his first single, Me and My Brothers, after years of putting out his music for free and trying to make a name for himself.

The 24-year-old, who grew up listening to rappers like Eminem, has performed in Glasgow, Edinburgh and other venues across Scotland.

Now, after years of practice, Shane, from Leven, felt he was finally ready to release his own music.

“Last year I release my mixtape on Soundcloud,” he said.

“I’ve been building up my catalogue of singles.

“The point of putting out this single is to help put my name out there, get some new fans and legitimise myself.”

Shane performs rap and trap music, a sub-genre of hip hop, and has been influenced by performers at both sides of the Atlantic.

He started making grime music with Kre8-ink, a group of his friends, and spent five years with the group, but now focuses on his solo work.

Shane has put a lot of his own money into his music, and recently got a manager. He hopes to release his first EP in January.

His new track, which can be found on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify, has also been released on YouTube with a music video.

“It was a good experience shooting it,” Shane said. “I always have fun with my videos. It’s high energy and exciting.”
