Parents are to be given refunds for cancelled school trips after months of delays.

Parents signed up their kids for summer activities through the schools, with the activities to be carried out by PGL.

PGL, which runs activity centres across the UK, cancelled visits and closed its centres earlier this year, in response to Covid-19. However, despite the activities being cancelled, refunds had not initially been offered, leaving parents out of pocket.

North East Fife MP Wendy Chamberlain and MSP Willie Rennie called for refunds for parents who had paid for activities for their children but had been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Rennie said: “This is a victory for parents, even if it is delayed.

“Since many parents have felt the squeeze on their finances in recent months and children are now returning to school, I believe these funds will be a massive relief to many parents across Fife.”

Ms Chamberlain added: “I am pleased the right thing has been done in refunding these trips to parents. These funds will surely go some way to helping parents adapt to returning to school after a very difficult six months.”
