Malcolm Antiques in Guardbridge welcomed a crew from the Antiques Road Trip last week, including expert and presenter, Natasha Raskin.

The show sees antiques experts travel around the UK, searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.

Natasha, who arrived at the shop in a vintage Rolls Royce, chose two items for the show, purchasing an antique oak stick stand and a mid-century ceiling light.

She was helped with her search by sales woman Caitlin.

Christine Malcolm, who owns the shop with her partner, John Muir, said: “We are hoping that this visit by the show will showcase beautiful Fife, what our amazing antique and jewellery centre has to offer, with our coffee shop, traditional sweet shop, ice cream parlour and vinyl record outlet, and that we are right in the heart of Fife only minutes from St Andrews.

“This positive experience and the support we receive from our wonderful customers is such a moral boost for us and the staff after coming through this difficult trading year, which was impacted heavily by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We only re-opened at the end of July and have obviously had to make a number of changes to keep ourselves, customers and staff safe, and because of this our customers are all returning and business turnover is certainly on the increase.”

Christine said that the arrangements for the show were only organised a few days in advance of shooting.

The shop was offered the chance to be filmed for the show last year, but they had to cancel because the shop was targeted by a thief less than 24 hours before the crew were due to arrive.

Thankfully, police managed to recover and return all the stolen items.

Christie is a third generation antique dealer, and John is a master jeweller.

Christine specialises in antiques, collectables and vintage items including gold and silver, whilst John is a working jeweller who can fix all broken jewellery, restore and repair watches, make bespoke items of jewellery and much more.

The couple opened the shop three years ago, having previously been located in Elie, at the original family antique business from late 1950s.
