A Fife community council has named its citizen of the year.

Janice Adam received the honour from Leslie Community Council.

It came after Janice chose to make her hairdressers, Fringe Effects, the first dementia friendly establishment in town.

The council said her care for the older members of the community was second to none, and she set an excellent example to other members of the business community.

Community Councillor David Shevels says "My wife has Alzheimers and Janice's hairdressers is one of the few places she can visit on her own without me having to worry if she can cope.

“I know that she will be well looked after and I'm grateful to Janice for providing this dementia friendly facility"
