Fife village given spooky makeover for Halloween

A Fife village has been given a spooky makeover ahead of Halloween.

Resients in ‘New Ghoulston’ – which goes by New Gilston the rest of the year – have transformed the village with Halloween decorations.

With no Halloween events going ahead this year because of the current restrictions, residents wanted to do something for the young kids in the area.

A Facebook page was set up just last week, and locals have worked hard since then to give the village a makeover.

And it’s been a great success.

People are driving past, slowing down and taking pictures,” said Kim Couper, one of the residents involved.

“The kids are really excited and hyped. We’ve had to do things differently this year.

“It’s a big thing for them because we are out of the way. They normally travel to St Andrews or Largoward for school. It’s nice to have something in the village.”

The group are hoping to do the same next year, and are inviting Fifers along to come and see the decorations.

“It’s free to walk around and look – just be safe and keep socially distanced,” added Kim.
