Final push to raise £7000 needed to refurbish Fife play park

A group of Cupar residents are making one final push to find the remaining funds needed to refurbish a local play park.

In August 2018, equipment in a state of disrepair was removed from the play park in Tarvit Woodland Park, leaving parents in the area concerned that the park would be run down and abandoned.

The Tarvit Woodland Park Development Group was formed with the aim of bringing life back to the play park and raising the £130,000 needed to make that happen.

Now, almost two years later, the group is just £7000 away from securing all the funds required to develop the play park.

“The committee would like to announce that the new play equipment for Tarvit’s play park is due to start being installed this September,” a committee spokesperson said.

“This is, of course, subject to the global Covid-19 crisis. This has been an extremely long process and the committee would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has supported them throughout this journey, with an extra special massive thank you to Councillor Margaret Kennedy, who has been an absolute star, providing help, support and guidance throughout this whole process, and to Alan Bisset of Fife Council, who, sadly, is no longer with us.

“He did an absolutely amazing job overseeing this project from the beginning, providing help and support all the way through the stages of our journey to its current success.

“He will be sorely missed and we would like to dedicate this article to him in recognition of his work on this project.”

The group has received support from a range of funders. Fife Environmental Trust awarded them a grant of £50,000, while funding has also come from FET, SUEZ Trust, Kingdom Housing Association, Fife Council, Kingdom FM Kids, Local Community Planning, Cupar Common Good, Campion Homes, Cupar Cup, ASDA, Scots Roofing, committee fundraising events and local donations.
