Kirkcaldy’s new online business platform, ShopAppy, is up and running.

Almost 20 local organisations have signed up in the first week since it went live - with more to follow.

Kirkcaldy is the first town in Scotland to sign up to the platform which aims to provide critical support during lockdown, and beyond.

The pilot project, which is being backed financially by Fife Council, is the first major initiative under the new ‘Love Oor Lang Toun’ banner which could be one of the key platforms moving ahead following the closure of BID company, Kirkcaldy4All.

ShopAppy, which operates in over 40 towns in England, was developed through ideas from the Kirkcaldy’s Ambitions partnership and is being hosted by Greener Kirkcaldy.

The initial take-up has delighted the team behind it.

Suzy Goodsir said: “We already have nearly 20 businesses on ShopAppy Kirkcaldy and many have already added products for people to buy over the last week.

“Indeed, sales are coming through for the businesses who have added things on already which is encouraging.”

She added: “We would like to say thank you for all the support and the interest from the local community and from Kirkcaldy businesses. Everyone has been really enthusiastic about the project which has just been great.”

The online platform is open to any business in Kirkcaldy and offers a free six-month trial.

Added Suzy: “Kirkcaldy businesses should get in touch with the project team at [email protected] for more information and to start the sign up process.

“We are hearing from more and more businesses every day and it would be fantastic to be able to showcase as many of the town’s businesses as possible.”
