Councillors on the Central and West Planning Committee will decide whether to give the go ahead to proposals to convert Leslie House into 24 flats.

The development, if given the green light, will also see eight new houses built.

The three-storey Leslie House was gutted by a fire in 2009, which left just the shell of the structure – but the plans could breathe new life into the building.

The development would see a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom flats created. Elements of the remaining structure would be retained, although a new roof and windows would be required.

Six houses, which would be built in the garden, would be a mix of three and four bedroom properties. Another two homes would be built as gatehouses at the front of the estate.

A total of 50 trees might be removed as part of the development.

Fife Council planning officials have recommended that the plans be approved.

Plans to convert the building into flats were approved in 2007, however, the fire destroyed the building during the renovation phase.

Another application was rejected in 2015.
