Gyms and leisure centres close from Boxing Day as Fife goes into Level 4 restrictions

Sports and leisure centres across Fife will close their doors once more as the region enters into Level 4 lockdown restrictions.

Fife Sports & Leisure Trust has confirmed all its venues will shut from December 26.

The news will come as another major blow to the finances of the charitable trust which runs them.

Emma Walker, chief executive, said: “Following the confirmation that Fife is now in Level 4, we will no longer be able to offer our facilities and programmes – this measure applies to both adults and juniors.

“The health and safety of our customers and staff is our number one priority.

“We understand that customers, who have been enjoying access to our facilities and programmes since we re-opened our facilities across the region, will be disappointed.

“However, as we have extremely good health and safety and social distancing measures in place, we are in a good position to resume our facilities and programmes as quickly as possible when permitted.”
