The event is taking place at the Rabbit Braes community park and has been organised by volunteers from the Rabbit Braes Development Group.

Adults and children are being invited along between 11am and 7pm to take part in the spooky trail with prizes up for grabs for the best dressed adult and a lucky draw for all who compete.

Participants should head to the electric substation at the end of Linton Lane where a witch will meet them and hand out treasure maps for youngsters to follow.

They will be asked to look out for bats – each bat will have a letter and the letter will make a phase. They then have to find a character who will have the goody bags, which will be exchanged for a song, poem or a joke in keeping with the trick or treating theme.

The prize draw will be at 7pm and prizes will be delivered after that.

A spokesman for the group said: “We can’t have the usual night time fun so we are inviting families to come along in their own time and do a treasure hunt. There will be figures dressed up and we are going from 11am to 7pm so there will be plenty of time for people to come and have outdoor fun without it being too crowded.
