Halloween in Fife: Spooky walk at Old Kirk in Kirkcaldy this weekend

Locals are being invited to take part in a spook-tacular Halloween ghost walk in the Old Kirkyard in the town on Saturday.

The event is being organised by members of Kirkcaldy Civic Society who are inviting people to learn about the ghosts in the Kirkyard and hear the spooky stories from the stones.

Due to the pandemic, extra safety measures will be in place with locals being asked to book a time slot for Saturday evening.

Booking is open on the Old Kirk website at www.kirkcaldyoldkirktrust.org.uk or at Eventbrite if you look for “Kirkcaldy Civic Society Ghosts”.

On the email form, participants are asked to give the names and numbers of adults and children over 16. This number must not exceed 6.

People should also give the number of children and a contact telephone number (or email address). The group must be from only one - or two households maximum and face coverings are required to be worn by those over five years.

The first booking slot will be at 6pm and the last one will be 7.30pm and people will receive confirmation of their time. Participants are advised to not arrive not before, but promptly at their allocated time at the Church Lane gate to the churchyard where a guide will check their booking, admit them and take them round.

Families are welcome and children can dress up. The event is free but donations are always welcome.

The spokesman added that if there is heavy rain a guide will lead a group at a time for a short one-way walk in the shelter of the Old Kirk itself.
