8. Kirkcaldy West memories
One of Kirkcaldy’s most famous architects was honoured by the town’s Civic Society in May 1987. Robert Adam, designer and architect, had a square named after him – Gladney Square was the name of the house in which he was born in Kirkcaldy in 1728, though it was pulled down in 1931. A plaque was unveiled by the Convener of Kirkcaldy District Council, Councillor Robert King, on behalf of the Society and he was joined by pupils from Kirkcaldy West Primary School who had done some research into Adam’s life.
