The project aims to add two portacabins to the centre to accommodate the increasing demand for the foodbank and other services

Mandy Henderson, centre manager, said: “The centre applied to Morrisons Community Foundation to support the Room for the Community project and to add two portacabins to the side of the centre to house Kirkcaldy Foodbank and as an extra classroom for our Polish School and centre groups.

“Over the last year the needs of the foodbank have grown, we moved the foodbank into a bigger room with the over spill of fresh food in the foyer, but as we slowly start to open this would have to be restricted.

“We were donated the two portacabins from a local businessman who has dedicated them to his grandparents who lived opposite the centre.

"With this funding from Morrisons we can paint, and furnish both the cabins inside and out – it will give more room to the foodbank while the centre will still support people with fresh food pick-ups, collection of donated dog and cat food, and emergency deliveries of food parcels and phone support.

“The funding will also allow one of the portacabins to be used for our groups as the Polish School has over 100 children that attend and will use this every Saturday as a classroom.
