Kirkcaldy community rallies to help Cottage Centre's Christmas appeal

Donations of toys, gifts, pajamas, food and money have been coming into the Cottage in the first few days of the appeal.

And local companies have also been quick to show their support too.

Pauline Buchan, strategic manager said: “We would like to thank every single person who has already handed in a donation. We have once again been overwhelmed by the response.

“It is so amazing that after the year everyone has had we are still getting so much kindness and generosity.”

In the first week, Briggs Marine once again showed its support with a donation of £10,000 towards the fundraising total of £35,000 which is needed to provide food and essential support this year.

Seafield based Print company Multiprint also pledged half of the proceeds from the sale of their 2021 calendar.

Bean Deli offered support, and CMS Window Systems, Bell Group ,Purvis Group and Fife Council have also pledged to back the centre with transportation which is absolutely vital to ensure families receive the support in time for Christmas.

Pauline added: “Year after year individuals, churches and the business community get behind us, and we are always blown away by the level of support they give.

“They’re helping us make sure no child goes without this Christmas and are giving people living in poverty hope. We can’t thank them enough or the local people who have taken the time to show their support in so many ways.

“We are already receiving referrals for children and families so we can’t stop – we must keep going because people on our doorstep need us.”

You can also get involved and make sure that no child or family is hungry, cold or without any presents this Christmas in other ways too.

The Cottage needs donations for families and children aged 0 to 16 of new clothing, pyjamas, new toys, toiletries, non-perishable food items and baby milk. Unfortunately, loved, second-hand items can’t be accepted for health and safety reasons.
