Maureen Kane, her two sisters, Mandy Kane and Lynne Hughes, and her brother and sister in law, Derek and Emma Kane raised the cash in honour of their parents, Charlie and Ena Kane, who sadly passed away last year within months of each other.

Maureen said: “We lost our mum in February last year and our dad shortly after in November.

"As they were both in the hospice at Victoria Hospital we thought it would be nice to try to raise some money . We held a tombola and raised over £600.

"When we laid our dad to rest, we used Ian Johnston Funeral Directors, who couldn’t have done enough for us. They were very professional.

"Ian had told us about the fundraising does in Gallatown at Christmas time to help buy gifts for children, and we thought that it would be a good idea to help as I previously stayed in Gallatown for 16 years.

"Initially, we were going to hold another tombola to coincide with the anniversary of my dad’s passing, but because of the lockdown we were unable to do so.

"We started to raffle Reborn baby dolls, Scentsy products, and I crocheted NHS frontline bears to try and raise some money for the Christmas appeal, raising £615.”

Ian Johnston said: “The amount that the Kane Family has raised is absolutely amazing, I can’t thank them enough for helping to support vulnerable kids in Gallatown at Christmas time.”
