Kirkcaldy station K107 wins Community Radio Award

It is the first time that the Kirkcaldy station has received a Community Radio Award.

The Bronze Award for Volunteer Of The Year was presented to Alex Airnes, the culmination of an intensive judging process to recognise those producing great quality content and engaging with their communities.

The awards ceremony was held virtually for the first time on December 12, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Alex said: “It’s the first CRA nomination we’ve ever had at K107fm, so it’s fair to say I’m delighted to have gone on to receive this award.

“It’s a reflection of the work of all at the station and the dedication of a team of over 30 volunteers who have adapted to the pandemic and maintained broadcasting 24 hours a day.

"Traditional fundraising efforts have been decimated so the station is working harder, with more demand and less resource.

"I hope this shows the tremendous growth of the station and how we can support and work with local organisations across the Kirkcaldy area”.
