Kirkcaldy's Artisan Market cancelled: This is why it won't take place

Plans to stage Kirkcaldy’s first Artisan Market of 2021 this week have been put on hold.

Friday’s first scheduled event has been cancelled ahead of storms which are expected to hit the town.

The market, which has been a key driver of footfall to the town centre, had lined up a number of food stalls with social distancing plans all in place to adhere to regulations.

But the weather forecast has prompted the organisers to postpone, and plan ahead for the following Friday, February 12.

Posting on Artisan Friday’s Facebook page, Louise Canny, the businesswoman behind the venture, said safety came first.

“Looking ahead at the forecast for Friday, we have made the conscious decision to cancel.“Our main priority are our customers and stall holders.

“Putting the market up, with the gazebos, would be a huge risk that we are not comfortable taking. We are so disappointed and were so excited - we know you were too! - but we know you will understand.”
