Lewis Capaldi: West Lothian singer donates iconic ‘America’s sweetheart’ outfit to raise vital funds for children’s hospice charity
Smash hit singer Lewis Capaldi has gifted one of this most memorable outfits to be auctioned off in aid of a Scottish children’s hospice charity.
The West Lothian chart sensation famously posed in a USA-themed onesie and gold sunglasses to celebrate his single Someone You Loved entering the US Billboard singles chart in 2019.
Now, the 24-year-old from Whitburn has donated his garish garb to Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) – a charity that provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
The outfit proved an instant hit with fans when the singer posed in it on his personal Instagram page, attracting over 618,000 likes and more than 16,000 comments.
At the time, Capaldi said: “I think we can all agree this means I’m well on my way to becoming America’s sweetheart and I for one am over the moon.”
CHAS High Profile Events Assistant Louise Jordan said: “We are thrilled and privileged that Lewis has chosen to donate this exclusive, fan-favourite outfit to CHAS to help raise vital funds for children with life-shortening illnesses and their families across Scotland.
“As this is one of Lewis’s most popular Instagram outfits ever, it would make a fantastic collector’s item so we’re sure the auction will attract lots of bids from dedicated fans.”
Bids can be made on Capaldi's iconic outfit now, with the auction closing on May 2.
The items are available on internet auction site Ebay, with bids having already reached £255 as of Tuesday lunchtime.
