Linktown residents' association to give out over 700 selection boxes

Over £1000 was raised by the community after the residents’ association hatched the plan last month.

Lizzy Halstead, community volunteer said: “We wanted to do something for all of the kids in the area as we have not been able to have our youth club or hold a Christmas party.

"people have been holding raffles, doing bonus balls among other things to help us raise the money, it really does show you what can be achieved through community spirit.

"We can’t thank everyone in the community enough as they have raised an incredible amount, with Lesley Rutherford raising over £600 herself!

"With these gifts we want to make sure that no child in the area has to go without and is treated equally.”
