Man in hospital after fire at garage

A man has been taken to hospital after a fire at a Fife garage.

The incident happened in Leslie yesterday afternoon, with a man needing medical attention.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.32pm on Wednesday, February 26 to reports of a building fire in Leslie, Fife.

“Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances to the town’s Mid Row, where firefighters were met by a fire within an industrial garage.

“Firefighters helped remove one casualty to safety and provided him with oxygen treatment before passing him into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“The casualty was thereafter transported to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital.

“Firefighters extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.”

A spokesman for Police Scotland says officers were called around 4.45 pm afternoon to a fire at a business premises.

“Two men were removed from the property by the Fire Service, however, only one man, aged 44 years, required medical treatment.

“He was taken by ambulance to Victoria Infirmary in Kirkcaldy, where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

"A joint investigation, police and fire service, is ongoing - enquiries are at an early stage."
