He sank huge sums into Kitty’s in a series of major refurbishments which made it one of the best clubs in the country, and the go-to place for many years.

It hosted events such as Rock The Rovers and many fundraising nights, as well as giving local DJs a place to play, and he brought a host of celebrities to town for personal meet and greets.

The club closed in 2019 just before the pandemic and was subsequently sold and then demolished after a major fire took hold.

Tributes have described him as someone who gave everyone a chance regardless of who they were or their background.
