The delicate decorations appeared over the weekend – but it’s not known who left them there.

Church members and local residents have been left wondering after a selection of exquisite flowers made from shells appeared on the wall outside a Kirkcaldy church at the weekend.

The stunning pieces of artwork were found outside Linktown Church in Nicol Street.

However, the talented person who left them there is a mystery.

Reverend Catriona Morrison spotted the flowers while walking past the church on her daily exercise on Sunday.

She said: “Someone, and it’s a complete mystery, but some local person who is generous and talented, has made exquisite flowers out of shells and placed them along the wall of the church, with another at the cross.“I know Edinburgh has its paper sculptures and somewhere else has some things out of scrap metal, I’m sure.“Well now Kirkcaldy has its own too - made out of shells, so very fragile.“It’s something really special.“I found it hugely uplifting. They really are stunning.”A rainbow painted on the fence of the church has recently been completed which it is hoped is an encouragement to many people.A prayer space with a rainbow cross in the church grounds has also seen many people laying stones, including some beautifully decorated ones, as a sign of hope and encouragement to others.
