Kirkcaldy could be set for its first 24/7 launderette.

Plans have been lodged to install a new hi-tech facility at Morrisons’ supermarket at Invertiel

The store wants permission from Fife Council to remove two parking spaces to accommodate the laundry machine.

Customers would load up one of the machines which would wash large or heavy loads within 30 minutes.

They’d pay via their mobile phone, and then get a text message five minutes before the wash finished to allow them to go and collect it.

Run by KisWash Laundry Solutions, the facility would stand out thanks to its grey/silver colour and LED lighting. The company operates 1500 external laundry machines across the UK.

The application will come before councillors in due course.
