Gillian, from Edinburgh, takes readers on a personal tour into places away from the crowds -little-known byways and up hidden wynds, along gold-fringed shores, over rolling green countryside and into peaceful woodland.

It uncovers the region’s true character and celebrates the people who made it - from the humble and the hard-working to royalty, bishops and saints.

Gillian was born in Edinburgh, and studied art history and painting conservation at the universities of Edinburgh and London.
