The 23-year-old will compete with Hannah Williams, Okulaja and Grace Holden in the showcase of the ITV programme this Saturday.

The backing he’s received from fans in Falkirk district and farther afield ever since he made it through the blind auditions has touched the former St Mungo’s High School pupil.

Craig is desperate for his rapid rise to success to continue and will once again “let the emotion take over” in the final after adopting a similar approach in the previous round.

Addressing the support he’s been shown since his television debut last month, Craig said: “I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“I never expected to get the support I’ve had at all.

“Things have ramped up a lot. I remember the reaction I got from the blind audition. Since the semi-final, it’s been like a rocket ship that’s not stopping.

“My head’s a bit all over the place because there’s a lot going on behind the scenes but I feel, by the time Saturday comes, I’ll be exactly where I need to be.

“I’m about 80 per cent of the way there. I’m just focusing on learning the lyrics and arrangements of the song.”

Now rehearsing with judge and coach Anne-Marie, Craig still has to pinch himself when he reflects on how far he’s come.

Craig said: “The most I had played to before The Voice was about 150 people.

“To go from that to over six million is a bit of a difference so I don’t know how that’s going to feel.

“When I’m performing, I don’t feel any nerves.

“Before I step on stage, that’s when the nerves are intense but when I walk on they’re completely eradicated. I feel like I’ve got this alter ego.”

The Voice UK final will be aired this Saturday (8.30pm) on ITV.
