New gift shop opens in Leven

It can be difficult choosing the perfect gift for someone in your life – but that challenge could be made easier thanks to a new Leven shop.

Artist and photographer Lisa Clayton has opened her first gift shop, Loved By Bridget, at the junction of Bridge Street and Branch Street in Leven’s town centre.

The store, which opened at the beginning of August, sells a range of gifts, from pebble art and photographs, both made by Lisa, to hand made soaps, ornaments and mugs.

“It’s been OK,” said Lisa. “We’re ticking over. It’s about getting people to know we’re here.

“Opening during the pandemic has made it more difficult. Normally we’d do craft fares and Christmas markets, but most of them have been closed. It’s difficult at the moment, but the shop is going OK. It has a lot of nice stuff, and it’s no expensive.

“It’s nice to sell my own work. I’ve had no negative feedback.”

Lisa had dreamed of opening her first shop, but, when her husband came home one day and told her about the empty store being available, she laughed him off.

But the seed had been planted and she mulled the idea over.

“It stayed in my mind,” she said. “I went to go and see it. I just thought ‘let’s go for it’. My friends said only I would open a shop during a pandemic.”

Lisa has been making her own pebble art over the last five years, and has been doing photography for the last decade.

She offers stunning landscape shots of Scotland, as well as photos from her time in Florida.
