It comes from the team behind Artisan Fridays which has played a huge part of bringing people back to the town centre on a regular basis.

Now, it is launching a market on the last Saturday of every month – and the first venture goes ahead tomorrow on the eve of lockdown restrictions being lifted.

It is run by Louise Canny, who owns Eloise, and is in response to many people asking for a weekend event.

Artisan Fridays on Saturday market will be open to businesses in the food and drink sector as well as arts and crafts.

It will feature the same bright pink gazebos which will be placed in front of the empty shops to bring some much needed colour and activity to the pedestrianised zone.

Louise said: “Due to popular demand, we felt the need to open the market up to people who still haven’t had a chance to visit due to work or other commitments.”

The launch of a second market is another step forward for the town centre as it emerges from a year in lockdown.

The Friday market originally launched in November 2019, and its traders have become a familiar site in the pedestrianised zone.

It has been widely credited for giving people a reason to visit after a raft of big retail names closed their doors.

Added Louise: “We are so excited to show more people what can be achieved in our High Streets.

"We couldn’t do it without the support of each person who visits the Artisan Fridays market.”

The market runs from 9:00am until 4:00pm
