The union is a democratic organisation run by, and for, its members by organising and representing its members in the private and social rented sector that fights for safe, secure and affordable housing for everyone.

Co-founders Emma Donovan and Bryce Goodall, started the Fife branch to give tenants a voice and to tackle any unfairness they face.

"I had several discussions with the organisers of it and decided that I was going to start one here as I feel that it’s extremely important to represent my community for the collective good.

"We have created a Facebook group for people who are interested in joining and we will be holding meetings with one to ones to identify individual housing issues.”

Bryce, from Dunfermline, said: “We deal with various housing issues such as unfair rent increases, evictions, and tenancies in disrepair.

"We also negotiate with landlords - which is unusual for tenant’ associations - to get the best outcome.”

Emma and Bryce, who are both volunteers, say that helping others is their main driving force.

"When the Fife branch launches, members will be able to join the board to ensure that everyone is completely involved,” Emma added. “I’m really excited to get started, and feel really strongly about helping people in Fife.”
