The third annual Fife Pride was due to take place in Kirkcaldy town centre, but the event had to be pulled because of the restrictions on mass gatherings.

Rather than let the day pass without recognition, the team came up with an idea to celebrate in a very different way.

There will also be a quiz and speeches – and organisers are encouraging Fifers to join them on the day and fly their flags, dress up, and share their celebrations.

The day will be opened by Jim Leishman, Provost of Fife, and there will be performances from the main stage acts Amy Lou, Ginger Fruits, Just the Brave and Demi Mcmahon.

Pat Greenhough, event convener, told The Press: “Being in such unusual circumstances it will feel very different this year.

“But we have taken the opportunity to have some acts from the youth space join us and share the stage with a lot of regular main stage performers.

“We have other acts such as Bev Lyons who will not only have you singing and dancing, she and her dog have a fun performance.

“Ross Alexander, a great supporter of Fife Pride, will also be performing bits from his new album and we have something very different and we have Amrick

Channa who is renowned internationally and has appeared on the Voice and X Factor.

“Some of the acts that join us from the youth space are Jaxon McCallum, Jasmin Milne and Eilidh Jackson and more.”

There will also be special input from pupils at Kirkcaldy High which has its own LGBT+ group.

Pat said:“We have something different from our young quiz team, from Kirkcaldy High School, who will be posing questions in their own unique style every hour.

“And of course, we will hear from a variety of people telling us what Fife Pride means to them and why it is important.”

The event will be hosted by April Adamas, who will be joined by other drag acts, announced on the day.

Pat continued: “We have always had great support for Fife Pride and we hope everyone can show their support this year by dressing up, getting their rainbows out and joining us online.

“This year it will feel very different, but that should not stop us coming together in a safe way to celebrate diversity.

“Let’s all continue to stay safe and well and remember #BeProudBeyou”The event will be streamed live on the Fife Pride‘s Facebook page.
