Over 400 pupils self isolate at one Fife secondary school
The figure was confirmed in a video update today by Alan Pithie, head teacher at Auchmuty High school in Glenrothes.
Attendance at the school is currently around 50 per cent because of positive COVID cases and the need to self isolate.

Hide AdMr Pithie stressed said there were encouraging signs that a firebreak had helped to bring about change, but he said the current position was “incredibly horrendous” - and warned change was needed in the wider community to help bring the number down.
The head teacher’s video update confirmed that 10 pupils had tested positive for COVID along with six staff members.
He added: “The outcome is that 13 staff in total are either positive of having to self isolate, and over 400 pupils are self isolating at the time.
“School attendance around about 50 per cent.

Hide Ad“This sounds incredibly horrendous picture - and it is - however there are emerging facts which make it a slightly brighter picture.”
He said there were “encouraging signs” as the school had not had any more positive cases for the beginning of this week - but it will take the help of the community to effect major change.
Mr Pithie said: “If we want schools to stay open, a great deal of social activity in the wider community has to stop.
“That is difficult to do, but if we keep working at this we will overcome this present problem.”
