The development area will be transformed to create a thriving new community complete with landscaped open space, riverside walkways and upgraded road access.

In addition to the initial investment a further £590,000 Section 75 contribution has been earmarked for improvements to the local primary school and transport upgrades in the local area

The new development, named West Mill, follows the success of The Old Mill, both named in recognition of the town’s 19th century paper mills that in their era were one of the town’s main employers alongside the well- known Haig Whisky bottling plant that remained in Markinch for over a century.

James MacKay, director in charge at Persimmon Homes North Scotland, said: “This is an exciting development that marks our continued commitment to invest in Fife. This investment will only provide much needed new homes it will also breathe economic life into the area and lay the foundations for a thriving new community.
