Plans for major housing development in Fife village rejected

Plans for a major housing development in Ceres have been rejected.

Mark and Jane Fleming had applied for planning permission in principle to build 40 properties on land to the west of the village, however, earlier this week Fife Council turned the application down.

The local authority said the applicants ‘had failed to demonstrate that the application site can accommodate the proposed residential units in an acceptable urban form and layout whilst adhering to the principles of good placemaking and demonstrating that the development complies with the six qualities of successful places’.

Dozens of people had submitted comments of objection to the plans.
