Plans for a new museum could soon be bringing more tourists to Cupar.

ScotBus Preservation Group, which was founded last year, aims to open a transportation museum at Prestonhall Industrial Estate, showing off vintage buses and other forms of classic transport.

The group had hoped to secure premises in Dundee, however, with no sites coming up that offered enough space, the team of volunteers decided to set up home in Cupar.

The large unit, formerly a Fife Council depot, has two large halls, numerous offices and plenty of space outdoors to house classic vehicles.

The group has already secured around a dozen buses, with one coming from as far as Shetland, while Cupar and District Model Railway Club has moved into some of the offices to show off their latest projects.

While the team will be focusing on buses at the moment, they hope to house other classic vehicles in the future.

The group is also keen to make themselves part of the community and get involved in local events.

The next steps for ScotBus Preservation Group is to find more funding, such as hosting events such as car boot sales. The volunteers currently rent out some of the space in the halls to house motorhomes, which brings in enough money to rent the building.

The other goal is to attract more volunteers who can give up some of their time to help the project.
