In June, Evelyn Craig closed her Upcycle shop in Lundin Links, and decided that all the profits from the final day sale should go to the Fife Dog Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Lochgelly.

Inspired by the success of the event, which raised around £900, Evelyn and five friends – known as the Angel Team – are running a pop-up shop, in the close between Stuart’s and the new barber shop in Lundin Links, from 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.

All the funds raised from the sale will go to the dog centre, as well as the Whinnybank Cat Sanctuary in Newburgh.

“We want to give the cats and dogs the best Christmas they ever have, until they find their forever homes” said Evelyn. “This time we decided to do it for the dogs and the cats, because I’m more of a cat woman.”

The group started selling donated items on their Facebook page with the aim of raising the profile of the group and the event. However, the sales have been such a success that the group are looking to continue with the Facebook fundraisers after the pop-up shop closes on Sunday.

Evelyn added: “We would like more people to think about adoption rather than buying a dog or cat which would help stop illegal breeders exploiting these wee creatures.”

The Angel Team are currently spending their time transforming the close where the pop-up shop will be based into a “fabulous” store.
