And that was matched by long standing supporters, Smith Anderson, to take the total to £10,478.

The funds came at a crucial time as the centre - in common with every other charity - faces a significant drop in donations after all long-standing events were hit by the pandemic.

Smith Anderson matched the £5000 raised for Maggie's Fife through its virtual elf run, taking the total to over £10,000. The virtual elf event saw dozens of people spread some festive cheer and raise money as they walked, ran, hopped, skipped and jumped their way around routes of their choice.

Adam Kent, fundraising manager at Maggie’s Fife said: “We’re absolutely delighted at the success of our first ever Virtual Elf Family Fun Run.

“It was so great to see so many people dressed up and motivated to support the centre in such a fun way.

“All of the centre team got involved too, including myself, which was a good laugh for our friends, families and neighbours.”He also paid tribute to the generosity of Smith Anderson for the Kirkcaldy company’s continued support.

“There’s no doubt that Smith Anderson’s pledge to match all funds raised made a huge difference to the campaign,” added Adam.

“I know of many people who donated who gave a little more than they might have otherwise, in the knowledge that their money would in effect be doubled.
